Wireless Night Vision Security Camera
You need a night vision camera when the monitored area is completely covered in darkness. You can also monitor vulnerable places like dark corners or your garage entry. A wireless night vision security camera is very useful because you can set it up immediately, without all the hassle you usually encounter when you have to setup cables around your house. General Characteristics Night vision cameras usually come in black and white, but you can also find color models that automatically switch to black and white in low light conditions. Night vision cameras need infrared illumination, and this is usually accomplished using lots of infrared LEDs contained by the camera itself. This means infrared cameras can only view targets that are close enough to be illuminated by the infrared LEDs. Wireless night vision security cameras usually connect using a standard 2.4 GHz radio transmitter. You can use the radio receiver to connect the camera to any kind of device: a computer, a monitor, a VCR or a DVR. Things to consider when choosing a wireless night vision security camera There are quite a lot of things to consider when buying a wireless night vision security camera: l The range. Most wireless cameras have a range of about 100 meters. It's very important to think where the camera will be located, and how will it be from the recording device, connected to the radio receiver l The illumination. You need lots of infrared LEDS to get enough light on the target. Cameras can have just a few LEDs or even hundreds of LEDs. The infrared light range of the LEDS is also very important. A typical range is 30 feet l The image resolution. Depending on the video sensor, ranging from 380 to 480 TV lines l The min illumination. Standard values for night time in black and white recording are around 0.0001 LUX l Color recording. Some cameras will record in black and white only when low light conditions are detected l The autonomy. If your wireless night vision security camera is powered by batteries, you have to check its power consumption and make sure you have good batteries. Sometimes a dead camera could cause a lot of trouble, so just make sure it's batteries are always full. Of course, there are wireless cameras that can use a standard outlet for power, but you still need a cable for that. But electricity is almost ubiquitous, while your storage system could be pretty far away from the camera, so sometimes a standard electrical outlet is good enough.
