How to Get the Most from a CCTV Security Camera
With everything that has gone on in our world, a CCTV security camera (closed circuit TV) is being examined more closely and being given greater expectations. Though unable to prevent every crime imaginable, a security camera has been successful at reducing certain types of crime, such as crime against property. I Always feel like Somebody is Watching Me On average, a person may be watched as much as three hundred times per day by a CCTV security camera. Though being filmed in such a way might feel as though it goes against your rights to privacy, many people feel safer to have such safeguards in place. You see, when potential criminals fear being recorded by a CCTV security camera, they are often quick to abandon the idea of conducting a crime. However, when citizens know that there is a CCTV security camera in place, so do criminals. It is a known fact that, when a security camera is in a location that is public knowledge, criminals may leave the originally intended target and head to another location. If the knowledge of the CCTV security camera is private, crime can be lowered as the criminals may feel that they are unsure of where the cameras actually are and may think the cameras monitor other areas as well. CCTV security systems actually increase police response time, as CCTV operators can determine the amount of police assistance needed at the scene and can inform the police of the activity, keep them updated before they arrive to the scene. A good CCTV security camera should have a random pattern of angle, range and speed, as criminals can often determine how long they have to commit a crime before being captured on camera. Preventative Measures CCTV security camera are great for reducing and, in some instances, stopping property crime in areas such as shopping malls, but security cameras are also effective in stopping violent crimes. Though the CCTV operator can assist in giving all the information about the crime to the police officer en route to the scene, often this is ineffective as these particular criminals have mastered how to avoid the CCTV security camera. In order to get the most of a CCTV security camera, video surveillance evaluations need to be made, especially with law enforcement. CCTV system operators should be well trained, and should know the fastest way to dispatch police officers to any location. As technology advances, we will see that the CCTV security camera is our best hope for helping to end crime.
